Identification and Extraction of Key Components of Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicines

While traditional Chinese medicine has evolved over the course of several thousand years, it has consistently encountered developmental bottlenecks, and has not won full acceptance in other countries. The main reason for this is that traditional Chinese medicine has few definite qualitative or quantitative concepts, and its methods often lack clear mechanisms of action. In order to surmount these shortcomings, it is important to put traditional Chinese medicine on a scientific basis, and the first step of this task is to identify the key components of traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Apart from identifying these key components, the most difficult and complex task will be to purify and mass produce these components. The methods used by our R&D team to extract the key components of traditional Chinese medicine include liquid phase centrifugal chromatography, supercritical fluid extraction, and high-pressure preparative chromatography. These methods can be widely used in the extraction of key components, and can be effectively employed to extract active components used in high-unit price drugs.
